Geoff and Marcy, Alaskan Brewing Co., Juneau, Alaska #3374

Congratulations to Geoff and Marcy Larson, owners and founders of the Alaskan Brewing Company, who received the Juneau’s Chamber of Commerce “Citizens of the Year Award” on November 6, 2020. In December 1986 the Alaskan Brewing Co. officially began operations when Geoff, Marcy and ten volunteers spent twelve hours hand-packaging the first 253 cases of Alaskan Amber for distribution in Juneau, Alaska. From that very humble beginning the Alaskan Brewing Co. has grown to become one of the most award-winning craft breweries in the history of the Great American Beer Festival. Current distribution has expanded to 25 states. Geoff and Marcy’s commitment to Juneau and to their employees is legendary. They deserve all the accolades they have received. Over the course of my career, and while working at the Juneau Empire and taking on freelance assignments, I have had the privilege of photographing the Larson’s and their amazing company. This image of Geoff and Marcy was taken for a magazine assignment in the mid-90’s. I am partnering with the Alaskan Brewing Company this holiday season for Mark Kelley calendar signings.
