Gastineau Channel Sunrise, Juneau, Alaska…Image # 2897

In November, December, and January the sun rises directly at the south end of Gastineau Channel in Juneau, Alaska. The morning light rising above the channel is simply gorgeous on a clear morning. Many of you know that I have set a challenge for myself to produce a calendar quality photo of the historic pump house at Sandy Beach each year. On my way back from my morning shoot at Sandy Beach I found this wonderful view from the Juneau-Douglas Bridge. While I was shooting the scene an eagle flew into the image at the exact moment the light was peaking. I never underestimate the importance of luck in helping a good image become a better image.
