Eaglecrest Ski Area, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2771

The official ski season at Eaglecrest Ski Area ended last weekend. We are now what the locals call the “Second Season”. We hike for our runs because there is still plenty of snow left in the mountains and at the area. When the area closed on Sunday, the 15th, it still had 144 inches of snow on top and 96 inches at the bottom (all natural). Some years we have hiked and skied well into June. The photo is of my bigger son, Owen, who has been skiing the mountain since he was two. He is now 23, a very strong skier and a great model for my ski images. When he can keep up, he is fun to ski with. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Camera body: D700, Lens: Nikkor 70-180 F/2.8, ISO 200/ polarized © Mark Kelley
