Cohen Island, Favorite Channel, Juneau, Alaska #3381

The pullout off Glacier Highway at Inspiration Point above Tee Harbor has to be one of Juneauites’ favorite spots to watch the sunset as it sets over Favorite Channel and the Chilkat Mountain Range. This pullout is one of my many go-to spots that has many great views as I travel out the road. This blast of sunset light through a break in the clouds is referred to “God Light” in the photography world. In my 40 years of photographing Inspiration Point it is the only time I have been able to shoot this light centered exactly over Cohen Island. The phenomenon never lasts too long so it is a matter of great luck to catch it. This photo illustrates the month of May in my Juneau 2021Calendar.
