Coast Mountains, Port Snettisham, Alaska-Image #2934

Oct 21, 2015

An important element in a successful photo is design. I like to give the two-dimensional presentation of a printed image a three dimensional feel when possible. The effect is called layering.  This image has a natural layering as the mountain ridges pile up on each other with the help of the early morning fog, giving separation between the ridges. In addition, the water is not monochromatic but layered instead with repetitive lines of silver and blue. All this layering upon layering makes this photo work for me. This image illustrates the month of March in the 2016 Juneau, Alaska Calendar.  Thank you for visiting – Camera: Nikon D800,  Lens: Nikkor 70-200mm F/2.8, ISO 200, digital, polarized ©Copyright Mark Kelley
