Caribou, Denali National Park, Alaska #3097

Mar 27, 2019

Springtime is a busy time in the office. Each year we look forward to receiving our new product inventory, and this year is especially exciting since we have worked hard to improve the quality of our magnet line that we sell at a few exclusive locations around Alaska. You may already be familiar with this image that is now one of my favorite magnets. I have written before about this bull caribou. He had been hanging out around the northern end of Wonder Lake in Denali National Park for several years in a row. On one of my shoots I was working my way up a small hill to get an advantage point overlooking the lake, the brush and clumps of small spruce trees can be very thick in this area. I stopped to turn around and check out my positioning when this bull caribou came out of the brush. Both very surprised, we just stood there staring at each other. After the initial shock the bull slowly meandered by and I was able to shoot about ten frames. The whole encounter probably lasted less than five minutes. Thank you for visiting, enjoy. – Camera: Nikon D800, Lens: Nikkor 24-120mm, Digital Capture, Hand-held ©Mark Kelley
