Bull Moose, Denali National Park, Alaska Image #2972

Aug 31, 2016

In the Juneau area where I live year round, we don’t really see moose. Every once in a while, we hear of a moose, but the sightings are very rare. When I am Denali, I always plan on finding a moose. I hope to find one this week while I am the photo leader for Camp Denali’s annual fall photo seminar. Last summer I photographed this moose while it played hide and seek with me in the thick willow bushes. Moose can be quite aggressive and dangerous so I used a very long lens (600mm) to keep my distance. This image illustrates the month of September in my 2017 Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo. Thanks for visiting. Camera: Nikon D800,  ISO 1600, f/5.6, hand held, digital capture ©Mark Kelley
