Black Bear, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2408

Oct 1, 2013

A black bear eats sedges along the tide line in Glacier Bear National Park. Coming out of hibernation, bears subsist on the grasses and sedges growing at tide line and the forest edge. I photographed this bear from a skiff. I am not very bear brave and prefer to photograph the bruins from a boat as they feed at high tide. This photo appears in my book on Glacier Bay National Park.
