Black Bear Cub, Anan Creek, Alaska #3069

Aug 8, 2018

A baby black bear rests in a tree while mamma bear fishes in Anan Creek below. Mother black bears send their little ones up a tree to keep them safe while she hunts for food. Born in a den in late January or early February baby black bears are blind, nearly hairless, and weigh under a pound. The family will return to their den in the fall and come out again in springtime.
