Black Bear by Governor’s Mansion, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2419

Oct 1, 2013

Black bears parade through Juneau on a fairly regular basis. I photographed this bear within two hundred feet of the Governor’s Mansion in downtown Juneau. Last summer, a sleeping exchange student was sun bathing in our neighbors yard and got nuzzled by a bear. Without opening his eyes the swedish student pushed away what he thought was a dog. The second bear nuzzle woke up the snoozing student and sent both of them scattering. This photo illustrates the month of June in my 2006 Juneau Alaska Calendar.
