Bears & Eagles, Anan Creek, Alaska #3360

Sep 30, 2020

Sometimes when I am out photographing, it can be hard to believe what I am seeing. In my wildest dream I could have never, ever imagined a shot with two black bear cubs and two bald eagles in the same tree. To top it off, the clear spacing and unobstructed visibility in this photo is such a gift, as it is most common to see one or two of the subjects partially obscured by a branch or something else. I have visited Anan for thirteen years in row and have never seen anything like this. The moment did not last long and was over in about ten minutes, but what an amazing ten minutes. Sadly, this year I had to cancel my week-long trip to Anan and Wrangell due to covid-19. This photo illustrates the month of June in my Alaska 2021 calendar. Both the Alaska and Juneau 2021 Calendars can be purchased locally at Hearthside Books, Juneau Artist Gallery, Ben Franklin, Super Bear IGA, Foodland IGA, and Gold Creek Café or at markkelley.com.
