Aurora Borealis , Juneau, Alaska #3434

Apr 11, 2022

Last Saturday night, April 4, Juneau experienced a stunning display of northern lights. The best of the lights happened between 10 and 11pm. I showed up just as the lights started to dwindle away and hung out for a long time south of downtown Juneau next to the Douglas Harbor hoping for some additional night sky excitement. Finally, around 1am the green lights fired back up. The waters of the Gastineau Channel had calmed, creating a mirror reflection of Mt Juneau. The first quarter moon lit a snowcapped Mount Juneau and I had the moment I hoped for but never expected. The moment lasted less than a whisper as the ever so gentle breeze blew away the reflection as the northern lights dimmed. I was home asleep by 2:30am Thank you for visiting and the gift of your time. Enjoy – Camera: #Nikon #D850, Lens: # Nikkor 24–70mm, Digital Capture, Tripod, ©Mark Kelley
