Aurora Borealis, Brooks Range, Arctic Alaska #3432

Apr 4, 2022

In March I spent five days in the Brooks Range above the Arctic Circle photographing the aurora borealis. I shot this image around 11pm while temperatures hovered around minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The lights lasted for about four hours and I was in bed by 2:30am. The elongated stars are caused by the combination of the rotation of the earth and the long camera exposure of about 30 seconds. Thank you for visiting and the gift of your time. Enjoy – Camera: #Nikon #D850, Lens: # Nikkor 24–70mm, Digital Capture, ©Mark Kelley
