Alaska native canoes arrive at the Auke Recreation Area celebrating the informal start of Celebration 2022. Celebration first started in 1982 and is a biennial Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian cultural event. Approximately 1,200 dancers will perform during the four-day event at Centennial Hall, the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall, and the new Sealaska Arts Campus. Events start on Wednesday, June 8th, and run through Saturday, June 11. Celebration has grown to be the largest cultural event in Alaska. Thank you for visiting and the gift of your time.
