Auke Lake, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2347

A pair of cross-country skiiers heads out across the frozen Auke Lake. This view is taken from the Chapel by the Lake parking lot. Auke Lake is the campus of the University of Alaska-Southeast in Juneau and the students get to check out this view every day. In the background is the edge of the Mendenhall Glacier. This photo illstrates the cover of my 2004 Juneau Alaska wall calendar and is the feature photo for the month of December.
