Amalga Harbor, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2595

Oct 1, 2013

Amalga Harbor is a little bite along the Juneau shoreline about 30 miles from downtown Juneau. I was looking for a fresh snow shot in the early morning just after a big dump the day before. I always start at Amalga, and this is the first time I got it close to right. The area is wind sheltered and the snow piles up in these great pillows. Most of the coastal areas around Juneau are wind swept with really flat snow. The early morning sea smoke on the left side is a bonus. This image illustrates the month of December in my 2009 Southeast Alaska Calendar.Nikon F5, Lens: 20-35 f/2.8 Nikkor, Fuji Velvia slide film-Mark Kelley
