Alaska Goes to Africa: Vervet Monkeys, Kruger National Park, South Africa – Image 2668

Oct 1, 2013

My website usually only shows images of Alaska. But for next couple of months, I plan to show images that I took last October while visiting South Africa and Namibia. Vervet monkeys are inescapable fixtures in the rest camps in Kruger National Park. The monkeys can become very bothersome especially the ones fed by humans. I watched one monkey jump out of a tree, scoot across a picnic table in a flash and take a banana from the person’s hand. Before the person could even swear, the monkey was in the tree eating its prize. The steal literally happened in a blink of an eye. But then an endearing moment between a mother and baby, let’s me forgive them for some of their transgressions at least for a while. Enjoy Mothers Day. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
