I have been after this shot for years and years and years. The necessary ingredients are lots of snow on the Towers to reflect the morning light; and a plane leaving the Juneau Airport timed to hit the gap between the towers at sunrise during the months of December and January. During these months the sun rises due south giving the south facing slopes of the Towers maximum morning light. Shooting from the North Douglas False Outer Point parking lot about 15 miles from the Towers, the huge jet looked like a little dot in the sky. Using my 500mm f/4 on my Nikon D200 gave me an equivalent lens value of about 700mm. This was my first shoot with my first digital camera about three years ago. I still can not believe I got the shot. I was lucky. This photo illustrates the month of March in my Juneau 2010 calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.Camera body: Nikon D200, Lens: Nikkor 500mm f/4, Digital Capture, ISO 200-Mark Kelley
