A Wings of Alaska Otter airplane piloted by Juneau pilot, Rusty Staub, flies over the Juneau Icefield. The icefield consists of about 1,500 square miles of ice sprawling from Juneau east over the border to Canada and north almost to Skagway in Southeast Alaska. This Rhode Island-sized ice mass spawns more than 30 major glaciers including the Mendenhall, the Herbert and the Taku. I shot this photo in May from chase plane using a Nikon F3 camera and a 20-35mm F/2.8 zoom lens with a polarizing filter. I used Fuji 50 film.-Mark Kelley
