Iceberg, Tracy Arm-Fords Terror, Alaska #3118

Oct 9, 2019

The wonderful light in this image makes the icebergs shine like jewels in a sea of black. I shot this image standing in bright sunlight while deep cavern walls cast a shadow over the distant icebergs. By carefully cropping the image in-camera, I was able to isolate the ice in the sea of black water. I like the contrast of the different colors of glacier ice, from white to blue to green. The pigeon guillemots reflecting in the water as they fly through the image add additional surprise and an unexpected dimension. This image illustrates the month of November in my 2020 Alaska Calendar. Thank you for visiting and enjoy – Camera: Nikon D850, Lens: Nikkor 80-400mm, Handheld  ©Mark Kelley
