Theres is a saying in Alaska,”when the fireweed blooms top out and the white downy seeds take flight…summer is over.” Juneau area and Southeast Alaska in general had the best summer anyone can remember. But, the rains returned this weekend and the fireweed has topped out. It is now time to get ready for the fall storms. I took this shot in late July along the Airport Dike Trail which is Juneau’s most popular hiking trail. The image illustrates the month of August in my Juneau 2014 Calendar. Thank you for visiting.
