Brown Bear, Pack Creek, Admiralty Island, Alaska – Image 2818

Oct 1, 2013 | 0 comments

Again, I shot this image of roughhousing bears about 20 feet outside the imaginary perimeter around the spit viewing area at Pack Creek. These are juvenile (third season) bears from different moms that have paired up to wrestle, box, and horse around. This pair has been playing like this for the past two summers. But, I think this coming season (2013),they will be moving into adulthood, and doubt this amazing behavior will continue. A final note: I might be giving my website readers the wrong impression that these images are easy to come by. When I go to Pack Creek to photograph bears, I sit at the spit for up to eight hours and on a good day I might get only get 15 to 30 minutes of really great photographic opportunities. But, the wait is totally worth it. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Camera body: D700, Lens: Nikkor 70-200 f/4 /digital capture/ISO 200 © Mark Kelley
