Sunset over Icy Strait, Alaska – Image 2799

Oct 1, 2013 | 0 comments

A couple of summers ago, I had a contract with an Anchorage advertising agency (Bradley Reid & Associates) that had been awarded the job of directing the state of Alaska tourism campaign. I was shooting images for the state vacation planner. I was up on Thunder Mountain shooting the overlook of the Mendenhall Glacier in late August which ended up as the cover of the 2011 Alaska State Vacation Planner. I spent the night on the mountain in tents with the models hoping to do a follow-up shoot in the morning. As the evening approached, I was able to shoot the moon setting into the sunset. It was a very-very good day. Not often I can shoot a cover and a calendar image in the same day, a “twofer”. This image illustrates the month of June in my Juneau Alaska 2013 Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Camera body: D700, Lens: Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 /digital capture/ISO 200/ tripod © Mark Kelley
