Eagle Beach is probably one of my favorite places in Alaska. I try tovisit the area at least once per month. It is an wonderful amalgam ofsandy beaches, pristine waters filled with whales and sea lions and amountain backdrop to die for. For several years our family friends, Pauland Tammi, rented the Boy Scout Lodge at New Years, and we all celebratedthe holiday out there. It is a several mile hike off the road to get tothe lodge. Weather permitting, the supplies were brought in by skiff. Most people put their boats away for the winter except for the reallydedicated seafarers. Here, one of the celebrators, Mike, takes off in hisLund skiff for more supplies. This photo illustrates the month ofFebruary in my 2012 Juneau Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanksfor visiting. Camera body: D700, Lens: Nikkor 20-35mm , digital capture, polarized © Mark Kelley
