Paintbrush, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2719

This incredible field of paintbrush was shot along the Alsek River by Alsek Bay. The large glaciers of the bay are just off to the right. Unfortunately there was no way to include them in this frame. I used a short telephoto to stack up the flowers and a shallow depth of field (wide open f/stop) so the flowers in front would be in sharp focus and would pop out from the flowers soften by the lack of the depth of field. This image appears on page 41 in my photo book on the park: “Glacier Bay National Park: Alaska.” Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Once again as a reminder, I will be leading a small boat photo cruise in Glacier Bay National Park this coming summer with Dolphin Charters (www.dolphincharters.com), July 6-12, 2011. Come join me for a week-long cruise in the bay exploring Alaska. Camera body: Nikon F2, Lens: Nikkor 135mm f/4 Film: 35mm Velvia, ASA 50, digitally scanned© Mark Kelley
