Sledding Hill, Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2699

I think every kid in Juneau at one time in their life has sledded on this hill. I know I spent countless hours with my boys on this slope. The glacier is just off to the right about a mile away across the lake. There aren’t many places in the world one can take their kids sledding next to a glacier. I would like the photos in all my calendars to be visual knock outs, but sometimes the images I put in there are more quiet and serene and maybe a little bit sentimental. Juneauites will appreciate the value of this spot and why I am showcasing it in the calendar. I will be leading a small boat photo cruise in Glacier Bay National Park next year with Dolphin Charters (www.dolphincharters.com), July 6-12, 2011. Come join me for a week-long cruise in the bay exploring Alaska. This photo illustrates the month of February in my Juneau Alaska 2011 calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
