Kayak, Mendenhall Glacier, Alaska – Image 2679

Both my sons, Gabe and Owen, have grown into adventurous young men. Gabe who is 24 sent himself through university working the summers as a guide. Presently he is working with Above and Beyond in Juneau, Alaska as a kayak and glacier guide. Above and Beyond specializes in guided hikes on the Mendenhall Glacier and guided kayak trips around Juneau. Here, Gabe kayaks in front of the Mendenhall Glacier and the huge waterfall that appeared on the right hand side of the glacier about four summers ago. The waterfall generated the wind creating the white caps and the water mist creating the rainbow. The image is the cover 2011 Southeast Alaska Calendar and illustrates the month of June. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. You can now comment on the images on my page at my new Facebook account.
