IT IS A CELEBRATION

May 3, 2017

Come to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center on Wednesday, May 10, from 6-8pm, and celebrate with Mark Kelley and friends his new book release: “Alaska’s Mendenhall Glacier.”  Juneau’s own Nick Jans wrote the text for this 80 page book which features 78 photos along with a 10-page section showcasing historic photos of the glacier. At 6:15 Mark will narrate a 20 minute show while sharing some of the images in the book. Refreshments will be served and Mark will be there to autograph your copy of the book. Come see the newly remodeled and very beautiful Mendenhall Glacier Bookstore, featuring many products by local Juneau artists. See you next Wednesday!

Over my years living in and traveling Alaska, I’ve seen thousands of glaciers, from tiny hanging relics high in the Brooks Range to thunderous tidewater beasts. While each one stands unique and gorgeous in its own way, I’ve never found a glacier that matches the postcard perfection of the Mendenhall. – Nick Jans

“As a kid in Buffalo, New York, I always wondered what it would be like to encounter a whale,” says Mark Kelley. Learn more about Mark…
