Bald Eagle, Auke Bay Harbor, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2627

Oct 1, 2013

Southeast Alaska is inundated with water. For me to properly photograph the area I need a menagerie of boats … everything from my five kayaks to a 16-foot Lund to the “big boat”, my 32-foot old Bayliner. I keep the Bayliner in Auke Bay about 10 miles from home. The Auke Bay harbor is full of eagles and is one of the best places in Juneau to regularly photograph eagles. Usually at least one eagle is perched on a piling on almost every trip I make to the harbor. This image illustrates the month of October in my 2010 Juneau Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.Nikon D300, 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6Nikkor, Digital Capture-Mark Kelley
