Cover of my 2006 Southeast Alaska Calendar – Image 2437

Oct 1, 2013

I photographed this eagle in a spruce tree along the edge of Mendenhall Lake in late October. A stream on the west side of the lake supports a late fall salmon run which in turn brings in a half dozen to a dozen eagles each season. The spruce trees along the lake are not too tall and the eagles seem easier to approach this time of the year. This photo illustrates the cover of my 2006 Juneau Alaska Calendar.
