Spaulding Meadows, Juneau, Alaska-Image 2986

Dec 14, 2016

Untouched snowfields are a photographer’s delight because they catch the light in the sky. The snow in this photo is picking up the colors of an outrageously beautiful sunrise. It is the light on the snow that makes this photo work. I captured this moment while winter camping in the John Muir cabin in Spaulding Meadows in Juneau, Alaska, back in the days when I was still using 35mm color slides. A timeless and perfect holiday image that illustrates the month of January in my 2017 Alaska Calendar.
