Humpback Whales, Icy Strait, Alaska – Image 2527

This image works for me for two reasons. One is the subtle almost pastel light and second reason is the mimicking of the humpback whale backs and the mountains in the background. I shot this photo off an Allen Marine Catamaran in Icy Strait near Pt. Couverden. This image illustrates the month of October in my 2008 Southeast Alaska Calendar.
