One of my new and most favorite spots in Southeast Alaska is Anan Creek. The US Forest Service has maintained a bear viewing platform and photography blind at Anan for years. I just visited Anan for the first time last year. I ended up going to this Anan twice last summer for a total of four days. I plan to spend almost a week there this summer. There are about 50 plus bears (both black and brown) that feed on the huge pink salmon run. The salmon get held up at the base of a large waterfalls while trying to scale the falls. Here the bears come to feast. When they are not feasting they walk around the bear viewing platform and just hang out.
