Despite an inconsistent surf, there is a small and dedicated group of surfers in Juneau. Undeterred, these hardy souls surf during serious strong wind events that create larger waves. The wind, besides creating surf, also brings bitter cold temperatures created by the north winds howling down Lynn Canal. The surfers’ reward is riding the waves in one of the most breathtaking mountain settings in the world.
