Mountain Goat, Gloomy Knob, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2716

I have done over ten photo books on Alaska subjects. Before I start to shooting any book project, I write down a photo list of all the possible images I want in the book. This list becomes my road map on how to navigate the shoot. On my Glacier Bay book, I had allotted four days to get my goat photos. I was going to start at Gloomy Knob in the early spring because the goats are close to sea level. Later in the summer the goats move really high, and it is really hard to access them. I got this photo on the first day of photographing goats. I was happy with the image. With about 120 other images on the list, I realized my good fortune and moved on to the next subject. This book could only use one or two goat images, and this image became my lead off goat photo. This image appears on page 20 in my photo book on the park: “Glacier Bay National Park: Alaska.” Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Once again as a reminder, I will be leading a small boat photo cruise in Glacier Bay National Park this coming summer with Dolphin Charters (www.dolphincharters.com), July 6-12, 2011. Come join me for a week-long cruise in the bay exploring Alaska.Camera body: F5, Lens: Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 Film: 35mm Velvia, ASA 50, digitally scanned ©Mark Kelley
