Cross-country Skiing, Spaulding Meadows, Juneau , Alaska – Image 2653

Here, we are again…Spaulding Meadows. The meadows are absolutely my most favorite place to enjoy the snow and sunshine in Juneau area. I have never had a bad day in the meadows, and I have been there too many times to count. Spinning in a circle, one has views of Mendenhall Glacier, McGinnis Mountain, Mt Stroller White, Thunder Mountain, Gastineau Channel, the Juneau/Douglas bridge, the Coastal Range, Douglas Island, Admiralty Island, Lynn Canal, and the Chilkats Mountains. The hike/ski traverses up a three mile trail with an elevation gain of over 1,500 feet to a forest service cabin. Depending on one’s condition the hike is a pretty casual two-hour event. Enjoy the image and thanks for visiting. Camera body: Nikon F3, Lens: Nikkor 20mm f2.8, 35mm Fuji Velvia slide film, digitally scanned-Mark Kelley
