Alaska Airlines on Approach, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2803

Oct 1, 2013

I love this view of planes landing with the Mendenhall Glacier as the backdrop taken from the wetlands. Here, an Alaska Airlines jet looks like it landing on the glacier when in reality the glacier is a good five to six miles from the airport. I shot this image with a moderate telephoto lens trying to compress the distance between the jet and the glacier. The image has to be carefully shot because the space where this photo works does not last long. This image illustrates the month of November in my 2013 Juneau Alaska. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Camera body: D700, Lens: Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 /digital capture/ISO 100/ tripod © Mark Kelley
