Whale breaches are some of the most dynamic and thrilling of all the whalebehaviors. This massive 45 foot mammal weighing in at around 25 to 35 tons(the size of a school bus) hurls most of its body out off the water landingon its back in a huge spray. I consider myself lucky every day I see abreach much less get a photo of a breach. This photo can be found on page40 in my whale book called Alaska’s Watchable Whales.
