Dall Sheep, Denali National Park, Alaska-Image 2932

Oct 7, 2015

I gave up my film cameras and switched to digital cameras in 2007 and I guess I was a late adopter. All of my professional photographer friends had changed over years before I jumped in. Every once in a while I find an image in my film library that seems to meet the sharpness that is standard in digital photography. This photo of a full-curl Dall sheep ram is just such an image. I really love this wildlife portrait and I have fond memories of the four plus hours spent with this animal and his two male companions. They were amazingly tolerant as long as I stayed a certain distance, which worked well with my 500mm. I think it would be hard to replace the magic of this encounter and lucky for me that the image quality holds up. This photo illustrates the month of October in my 2016 Alaska Calendar.
