Chilkat Moon Sets, Alaska – Image #2898

In Juneau winter the full moon often sets as the sun rises. It was a perfectly clear morning when this full moon set over the Chilkat Mountains across Lynn Canal from Aldersheim Lodge “out the road”. I love how the early blue sky, lit by the rising sun, rolls down seamlessly into purple pre-dawn color layers. The very first rays of the sun highlight the setting moon.
