Every November the largest collection of bald eagles in the world amassalong a 21-mile stretch of the Chilkat River just outside the small town ofHaines, Alaska. The river is kept open from freezing by some hot springswhich in turns supports a late salmon run. With most of the other rivers inAlaska frozen shut, the eagles collect along this river by the thousands. This photo illustrates the month of November in my Southeast 2005 Calendar.Camera: Nikon F5, Lens: 80-200mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Polarized, Film: 35mm Velvia(35mm color slide film).-Mark Kelley
