Auke Lake Aurora, Juneau, Alaska #2958

Apr 14, 2016

Last night I went to bed with my world covered in clouds. But I knew the northern light predictions were calling for strong aurora displays.  I happened to wake around 3 am and looked out my bedroom window to a star-filled sky. I checked three aurora websites showing current and strong aurora activity.  I quickly dressed and got my camera bag. I headed to Auke Lake and just started shooting. This strong display over the lake had been going on for a while but lasted for just three frames before they dwindled to almost nothing. The rest of the night I only found faint colors of green here and there.  By 4:15 am the night sky was too bright to see any more activity. Then by 7:30 am Juneau was covered by clouds again.
