Alaskan Solstice, Juneau, Alaska #2943

Dec 22, 2015

Alaskans love to celebrate winter solstice to welcome the turning of darkness into light. For the past 20-plus years a fun group of locals have celebrated the welcoming of the light with a bonfire on a local beach. This year they carried a sea monster placed in a kayak frame into the bonfire. Let the long Alaskan days of summer light return. Happy Holidays and thanks for visiting. – Camera: Nikon D800, Lens: Nikkor 24-120mm F/4, ISO 1250, 1/6 second, digital capture, fill strobe, rear curtain synchronized – © Mark Kelley
